An Open letter to Advertisers and Other Bullshitters

Dear dumbasses,

If you are any of the following: an advertiser, someone who works in a marketing department, a spammer, or anyone else who creates, publishes, or distributes advertising propaganda, keep reading. This letter is for you.

Some may say I am being unfair by grouping spammers in with the rest, but I'm not: all of the aforementioned people are the scum of this earth, and especially if the spammers were piled into a pit and had nukes dropped on them, nobody would care. Society would be better off.

However, let's get to the meat of this writing: why I feel this way.

Suffice it to say, I'm tired of all your crap. I'm tired of the bullshit you bombard me and the rest of the populace with each and every day. I'm tired of the bullshit you make me go through to stay away from your bullshit ads. All the work I put into keeping referrer spammers out of my stats page (a service I provide to the world free of charge), all the CPU cycles I waste filtering the mindless bullshit viagra and porn ads out of my inbox. All the time I waste listening to and watching advertisements on the radio or on TV.

I did this all while keeping a straight face and shrugging it off, but it has reached the point of me feeling a need to spend even more time writing a page about it. You dumbasses take it for granted that the populace is too lazy to boycott your bullshit products. Well, if it makes you proud, you jackasses are one of the reasons I no longer watch TV (the others being reality TV and just a lack of programming beneficial to anyone but the mindless rap-listening, pop-culture-following idiots), bar a few Simpsons episodes.

If your product is so good, I'll find it. I come looking for you, not the other way around. If your product is good enough, word of mouth should be sufficient. If not, well, FOAD; that's what capitalism is all about. It's not about who has the best lawyers and the flashiest propaganda.

In closing, I hope you jackasses (probably excluding those who make an honest living off of this stuff, such as people in marketing departments; spammers are inclusive in all circumstances) gather all in one place, only to be hit by a meteorite. It would be better for us all.

Sincerely,
Dan Ponte
